ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATALITY FEARED. By Telegraph.—Press Association, jisborne, Aug. 10. It is reported from Tokomaru Bay that Linton Runciman, eldest son of Q, A. Runciman, manager of the Jlakarika station, is missing. His horse found last evening across a flooded river. Search parties are out this morning scouring the country.
SMOTHERED BY A FALL OF ROOK. Auckland, Aug. 19. Four men working in a quarry at Tureka Bay, neat Auckland, while sitting at lunch tvero smothered by a fall of rock. Two, Hawthorne and Kelvin, were almost completely buried, and it is believed they are seriously injured. Two others, Crammond and" Jackson, were also injured to a less extent. LIEUT.-00LONEL SWEETZER'a DEATH. At the inquest relating to the death of Lieut .-Colonel Sweetzer, whose body was found pinned underneath Ma motorcar on the Belmont-Pahautanui road on Friday last, tho evidence showed that deceased was an expert driver, that he had taken a wrong turning, and owing to a rubber bumper, or shock absorber, coming loose and getting in between tho steering rod and a spring, he lo«t control of the machine, which fell about 10 feet and pinned him underneath.
