STRATFORD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) (All communications, letters., etc., left with Mr. H. J. Hopkins, bookseller, will receive prompt attention). The Matron of the Stratford Public Hospital acknowledges donations of scrap-books from Mrs. Piper, handkerchief bags from a country Red Cross committee, and gifts of linen from various donors. The Stratford Chamber of Commerce have written to the Minister for Justice directing attention to the inconvenience under which the public of Stratford and district labor, by reason of the absence of the cleric of the Court during usual business hours. During the war (says the communication) work at Stratford and Eltham has been in charge of or.r clerk (Mr. Freeman), who lias done all in his power to meet requirements, but it is obvious that one individual resident in one town cannot satisfactorily attend simultaneously to work in both towns. The inconvenience thus due to war conditions lias been suffered in silence, as was quite proper during the period of the war, but this Chamber i urges that a speedy return to pre-war conditions is now wanted and necessary. Moreover, the restricted railway service has recently aggravated the position, because the clerk of the Court cannot attend as frequently as before. The Chamber therefore urges that a resident clerk of Court be speedily re-appointed at Stratford. POSTED DffiECT FOE 2a Cd. One Good Luck Writing Pad, One Packet Envelopes, One Penholder and nib.
