THE ORAMAHOE TRAGEDY
FURTHER DETAILS./. By Telegraph.-Pross Association. Auckland, August 15. Further details of the Oramahoe tragedy are to the effect that Ihimaera. Raratu, a Maori aged sixty year*, lived alone with a step-sister, Mary Ann Taklmoana, aged seventy, in an isolated whare on a hillside. The old couple we**? drinking tea, prior to retiring on Thursday night, when they heard heavy steps descending the hill and approaching the entrance to the whare. A stranger 6*U< ed out "kia ora," and Ihimaera went out and invited him to have a eup of tea, The reply was a bullet in the left arm, probably from a revolver. He turned back into the whare to Obtain something with which to defend himself. In the meantime tiie woman had come to the door to see what was the matter, and was shot twice, once through the heart the assailant then flred on Ihimaera again, wounding him in tho breast sad left arm. The night was very dark, and the assailant disappeared quietly in the darkness. v '
