SOUTH ISLAND TRUNK LINE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last; Night. A deputation from the Sottish Island Main Trunk League waited oirthe Chamber of Commerce and requested .Jj* assistance in impressing on the Govern*; tnent the necessity of the early cog? pletion of the South Island trunk ■ line. The deputation urged that the Gi&erntnent should borrow ten millions to complete the existing lines, and pointed out that a railway between Christehurch and Blenheim would give a fillip to settlement and result in increased production, which was urgently needed in view ot the Dominion's financial burdens. The Ohamber-promised to give all the assist- ' ance in its ppwer to further the request of the league; 'THEOHRISTCHURCH EXPRESS. l'nvercargill, Last Night. The Southland Chamber of Commerce ' to-day decidud to urge the Railway Department, when reinstating the- full services, to make the through to Christehurch the first'.reinstatement. In a telegram to the Hort. A. V.
