Mrs Burgess introduced ( Mr's Standlsh as the new secretary, and a vote' of thanks to, Mrs Stuart Russell for, having acted as secretary since Mrs Allen's departure was passed. , The nurse's report foj the month ending July 31st was read ns follows:—New cases 10, bobles under care 130, Tlsits to homes 2*2, mothers preparing milk in homos M, mothers shown how to .make milk 3, visitors to rooms 12, mothers and babies 238, letters received .3. Reports of financial, car and house sub committees wore read and passed. ' Mrs Burgess presented pictures for the walls of the Plunket rooms, for which a hearty vote of thanks was accorded. Mrs W. C. Weston stated that the 2nd prizo had been received for the riunkot car on Peace Day. It was resolved that the amount (10/0) be presented to the Soldiers' Hostel. The report from the Central Council was read by Mrs Burgess. ; Mrs Burgess tendered her resignation as president of the society. She stated that owing to stress of work she could not pos--1 slbly give tho time arid attention t» the soi ciety which she considered necessary. In accepting the resignation .with deep regret, the society placed on record the splendid work done and able manner in which Mrs i Burgess had fulfilled the arduous duties of president during her term. The committee passed n vote of sympathy to Mrs Burgess In respect to the sad loss which sho had sustained by the death of her ; mother at Auckland last week.
