BURGLARIES IN AUCKLAND.
SENSATIONAL ARREST OF TWO BOYS. Auckland, August 7. The sensational arrest of two boys aged 10, named Robert Thomas Cook and James Montrose Sutherland, after a chase by the police in Newton last Saturday night, had its sequel .in tho Police Court to-day, when the hoys appeared before Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M. The following joint charges were kid: (1) That on Thursday night last they attempted to break and enter the warehouse. of Rendells, Ltd.; (2) that on Saturday they did break and enter the fame warehouse with intent to commit a crime; (3) that on or about July 19 they wilfully damaged a window valued at £0 2s, the property of the Colonial Ammunition Company, and (4) that on or ahout the same date they broke ana entered the Colonial Ammunition Company's shop in Enfield Street, Mount Eden, and stole two automatic pistols, valued at £lO 10s. Cook was charged separately with being a rogue and a vagabond, in that he was armed with a loaded revolver, with felonious intent. This charge was later withdrawn.
Constable Castle, of the Newton police, gav4 evidence that lie arrested Cook at fi.lfi p.m. on Saturday and apprehended Sutherland at 3 o'clock next morning. Cook when arrested had a revolver in his possession. Both boys admitted that on the night of July in thev had broken into the Colonial Ammunition Company's shop, smashing a window with a piece'of piping, and stealing an automatic revolver. The bovs pleaded guilty to each charge, and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Bail was fixed at £IOO in each case.
