Speaking at the State luncheon Lord Jellicoe stated-that his report on Australasian naval defences would be available five days hence. THE PRICE OF COAL. Brisbane, August 8. The difficulty between the colliery proprietors and the Government in regard to coal prices has been adjusted. A LESSON OF THE WAR. Melbourne, August 8. In the House of Representatives Mr Watt stated that one of the lessons learned during the war was that the recasting of the constitution was necessary. THE ADMINISTRATION OF NEW GUINEA. Melbourne, August 9. The Federal Cabinet has appointed a commissioner to proceed to New Guinea to inquire into the administration of German New Guinea and the adjacent islands.—Aus.-N-Z. Cable Assn. THE INFLATED PRICE OF HIDES. Melbourne, August 9. A simultaneous protest against the increased prices of hides and leather was launched in the Senate and House of Representatives, Senator Gardiner end Mr Tudor moving the adjournment to discuss the grave situation which has arisen.
