A message from Washington says it is estimated that 450,000 (railroad shop workers wont on strike following a demand .upon the railroad administration, for an .increase in wages from 69 to 75 cents an hour. GENERAL STBIKE A,T BASLE. COLLISION WITH MILITARY, Received August 6, 12.20 a.m. Berne, August 3. There is a general strike at Basle in favor of cheaper food and the requisitioning of empty houses and flats.
