SOLDIERS ON THE RAILWAYS.
ONLY WHERE TRAVELLING IS i NECESSARY.
By Telegraph.—PreSi Association. Wellington,- Last Night. The Defence Department states that the Railway Department has advised that no soldier in possession of a privilege ticket will be refused permission to travel, provided there is a train available. It W3I, however, be necessary to obtain a permit from the permit officers of the Railway Department, Where soldiers join the train at flag stations guards have been empowered to issue permits. The Railway Department having agreed to the proposal to defer tho issue of railway tickets until the resumption of the normal time-table, it is hoped that only soldiers who desire, and And it necessary, to avail themselves immediately of the privilege will do so, so thai the Department will not be hampered with an unnecessary number travelling at the present time.
