(Prom Our Own Correspondent) At the S.M. court on Thursday, before Mr. S, JG. McCarthy, S.M., judgment was given for plaintiff ui the following cases: Egmont County Council v. Eirikoii, £8 13s fld (costs £1 fls Gd); T. P- Hughson and Sons v. Briscoe, £97 0s lid (costs £7 4s); S M. Cornish v. H. btockman, £4 lis (costs 10s). A plea of guilty was entered, and the youui was convicted, the magistrate to recommend to the under-secretary of justice tnat the youth be given three months' reformative treatment.

Two youths were charged with throwing stones at the telegraph insulators, and were fined £1 each with 7s costs. I lie magistrate informed them that thev were old enough to know better. A Maori named Weston was* charged, on the information of the police, with stealing a lamo from off C. Warner's »>uggy, on the night of July 4th. The buggy had been left in charge of T. of the Opunake stables. Hie lamp' was found hidden in a shed at Pihama- -Defendant was convicted and fined £2, alternative 14 days' imprisonment.

The late Mrs who died from the results of aeiedent at Jutham, was buried inNthe Opunake cemetery on Friday. The deceased was 8)1 ex-resident of Opunake, and was buried -beside her husband and eldest son, ivho had predeceased her by some years.

Mr Goodwin, inspector of orchards, gave a demonstration of pruning fruit trees at Mrs G. Rogers' grounds on Wednesday. There was a good attendance ot interested persons. At the conclusion a vote of thanks was accorded the inspector and to Mrs Rogers for providing afternoon tea.
