(From Our Own Correspondent.) 'Waitam, August 2. The funds for the memorial gate on Camp Keservc benefited to the extent of £1 Is by a donation from Mr. C. A. George, of the local cordial. factory. As thero is still some £SO required, a few more donations would be thankfully received. , The new railway regulations were put into force at Waitara yesterday evening, wl.jii a teacher at the public school was refused permission to go home to her parents for the week-end. A returned soldier. Private T. Free, was found drowned in a pool close to Waitara this morning. There are no details.
Mr. C. Ogle ha.s received word that his two sons, Ueofl'rey and Norman, are returning home by the Mamari, due on August 13. The seamen's dance, which is to he held Weekly in the Foresters' Hall, is a very popular fixture, the hall being crowded every time. A great many young people ar.e learning to dance, and, with learners and others, .the hall is scarcely big enough for th> muuber that attend.
