Stratford, July 31. t The annual meeting of the Pembroke Co-op. Dairy Company was held in the Pembroke Road schoolroom on Wednesday evening, Mr. R. A. Belcher, chairman of directors, presiding over a large attendance of shareholders. . The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted on the resolution of the chairman, who complimented the manager and the stall on the economy exercised during the year. Honorariums were voted to the chairman and directors as a mark of appreciation of their services during the year. Messrß. R. A. Belcher and H. Harrison-were elected directors for the ensuing term, and Mr. T. H. Penh was reappointed auditor. At a subsequent meeting of directors, Mr. Belcher was re-elected chairman. Peter Keenan, a middle-aged'' man residing at Douglas, was found early on Wednesday morning suffering from wounds which seemingly had. been caused by a razor. He was removed to the Stratford hospital and is reported to be doing favorably. In a letter to Mr. P. Skoglund, Town Clerk of Stratford, in which was enclosed a cheque for £2 2s for the Roll of Honor Fund, the writer, Mr. Geo. Winder, ©f Wellington, says: "I wish to thank you and the Stratford people for remembering me and my boy. It is very gratifying indeed to find that the brave young fellows are not forgotten. 1 have noticed how well the Stratford district has done in finding men for the fearful war, and I also noticed how many fino lives paid the supreme sacrifice in order that we, and generations to come, may have freedom pnd liberty." Mr. W. J. McMillan, Mayor of Stratford, has forwarded a telegram to the Minister of Railways supporting, on behalf of the municipality, Mr. Wilkinson's request for a moderate railway goods service between New Plymouth and Stratford, and Patea and Stratford, and favoring a through passenger train on alternate days, Mr. Witt, proprietor of the Medina Tea Rooms, now claims to have established a record on the first day of the peace celebrations, when he catered at his rooms for no less than- 1400 people. The Rev. C. W. Howard returned to Stratford yesterday after a visit to Auckland. Lieutenant S. Macalister, of the firm of Rutherfurd, Macalister, and Coleman, solicitors, arrived at Stratford yesterday in company with Mrs. Macalister, nnd received a hearty welcome from his friends.
