6n Tuesday Mr. R. Masters, chairrttan of the Taronaki Education Roard. sent the following telegram to Mr. R. \V. MeVilly, general manager of railways: "Re the restriction on passenger "traffic a? from August 1,1 am desirous of knowing tho attitude your department proposes to adopt in reference to children travelling by rail to various schools in this province. The restricted Bcrvi.ce is already affecting their education prejudicially. I sincerely trust no further impediments will be placed in the way of their educational advancement." Yesierday Mr. Master.-) received the following reply from Mr. MeVilly: "Children travelling to and from rchool daily will be carried. They will require to apply for a permit, which will be issued to cover a period up to one month, if the term continues so long.''
