PEACE TREATY
THE AUSTRIAN TREATY. A BANKRUPT STATE. By Telegraph.—Press A^sn.—Copyright. Paris, July 22. A perusal of the financial clauses of the Austrian Treaty shows that the liquidation of the assets of the old Austrc-Hungarinn Empire compels the Austrian Rcpuhlic to start life as a bankrupt State faced with an enormous debt, tremendoiiß currency inflation, and overwhelm obligations towards the Allies. Will Germany be allowed to undertake the financial and economic rescue and reconstruction, or will the Allies assume this responsibility, is the pertinent question asked in conference circles.—Aus. cT.Z. Cable Assoc.
