THE AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. New York, July 19. There is a strong feeling in tennis circles that Brookes and Patterson, and Lycett and Thomas, who sail from England on July 26 to participate in the American National doubles will be ablo to make an excellent showing' Some experts even go so far as to predict that Ihe Australians will sweep the field clean It Is believed that Thomas and Lycett. who have been doing phenomenal work on tho European courts, show better results than Brookes and Patterson, although Patterson is considered the best single player In Australia. American tennis players place their hones In Murray, Tlidon, Johnson and Williams who are now hard at. work preparing to meet the Australian champions.
