RETURNING SOLDIERS.
THE RUAPEHU DIiAFT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn - Copyright. Wellington, July 20. The Ruapehu with troops is due at Wellington about 7.30 to-morrow morning. ii clean she will berth at 2.30 p.m. the same day. As there is not accommodation ashore only the Wellington city men will disembark to-morrow. The other troops will remain on the vessel until Monday, when they will leave for their homes, but they will be granted leave of absence in the meantime. Wellington. Last Night.' The transport Ruapehu berthed at 2.30 this afternoon, the men being given a hearty reception. Excellent weather tt'as experienced throughout the trip. The vessel brought 401 soldiers, 17.» soldiers' wives, and 63 chiidren. The Weilington city men were the only ones who left the Ruapehu permanently to-dav. There were 87 of them, and ii number of them were accompanied by their wives, on whom confetti was showered as they passed off the gangway. Those bound for ports other "than Wellington were granted shore leave, and returned to the ship for the night, as there was no accommodation for them in Wellington. , B Pnlmerston, Waiigjumi, and New Plymouth men leave the city by the 8.4 a.m. train to-morow. The Wairarapa men leave at 8.5; men bound for stations north of Tmimanimii sail by the Pateena for Auckland at ft a.m.; the Picton, Blenheim, and Nelson men sail by tiie Mapourika at noon, and the men for the South leave by the 'Maori.
