BUGBY ROAD. (From A, Correspondent). A very enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. Cossey, where friends famvclled Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fablsh, who have sold their farm and are leaving the district., In -a large room a dance was held, there being about GO- friends, young and old,, taking part. . ' All liopo that Mr. .Tones, who .has purchased the farm from Mr. Fablsh, will be as good a neighbour as. his predecessor, : Mr. Byrons, on behalf of the friends, presented Mrs. Fablsh with a silver biscuit barrel and a pair of silver vases, and Mr. Riunball' presented Mr. Fabish with a case of pipes. After the presentation Mr, R. Hancock thanked Mr. and Mrs. J. Cossey for the troublethey had gone to.' Then all the friends stood tip and sang "For they aro Jolly good fellows," Supper was then handed round by the ladles. Miss Clara Hogan played the music and extras were given by Mrs. August Fabish and Mr. Alax Grofski, whilst Miss Hogan contributed a song. Dancing was Indulged In till 2.30 a.m. a.m.
MIDHIRST. On the 11th Inst, a wedding of unusual Interest was solemnised In the Methodist Church, which was prettily decorated fot the occasion,, the contracting parties being Miss R. A. 8., Anderson, only daugher of Mrs. C. Anderson, atjd Mr. D. T. Davis (Main Body), of the Walkato. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Andrew Anderson, looked, charming in a very handsome dress of Ivory chiffon taffetas. The bodice Of Ivory crepe de chine was trimmed with silver trimming with high folded belts and the shirt was finished with a pretty panler effect. She carried ft shower bouquet of white heather and wore the customary veil and Orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Miss Marjory Symons and Miss Ada Mountford. The former wore a pretty plnlc silk dress wtlh velvet hat to match, and thq latter a grey, crepe de cblne handworked In mauve and a- black hat with violets with mauve satin. Little Miss Nellie Anderson was daintily attired In a embroidered dress. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a gold wristlet watch, to the bridesmaids cameo rings, and to the little flower girl a gold bracelet. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a gold watch chain. After the ceremony some fifty to sixty guests were entertained at the Oddfellows' Hall, which was also JflStofully decorated for the breakfast. After the usual toasts were honored, the happy couple left" per motor for Auckland, where the honeymoon Is to be spent. The bride's going-. away dress was a wine-colored costume with black toque. The presents were numerous and handsome, Including many valuable cheques A number of the guests returned In the evening, when an enjoyable Social was held dancing being kept up to the early hour* of the next morning. There was a general oxodus fpr Stratfordon Saturday to join in the peace celebrations, and, favored with lovely weather, the day-was Indeed one never to be forgotten. Detailed account? of the celebrations have appeared In your columns, and I can but add a tribute of praise for the way they were conducted. The general opinion here Is that the citizens of Stratford are to be congratulated on the splendid effort they made. The floral decorations in front of the post office and on the bridge are especially worthy of mention, ; and the hearty way In which the great con-, course of settlers from tho surrounding district joined In the celebrations was proof of the deep felt thankfulness for the occasion, and appreciation of the effort that Stratford had made to, commemorate - the day.,
