SHORTAGE IN TRANCE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, July 22. The Matin says: "We are threatened in 1020 with dearth of food. The supply of corn is assured only till August 31. As a result of the deficit in the harvest we shall be short of 3540 quintals for 1919-1920. We must, therefore, obtain economic collaboration'with Britain and America, and if that fails we shall suffer a food crisis greater than that of war time. AMERICAN WHEAT YIELD. New York, July 17. President Wilson has issued a proclamation fixing the price of the 1919 wheat crop at 2 dollars, 20 cents (9s Kd) per bushel, also forbidding the exportation or importation of wheat and wheat flour, except by permission of the United States Wheat Administrator. JAPANESE PURCHASING WHEAT. Melbourne, July 23. Japan has purchased a further 17,000 tons of second-grade wheat at 5s 7}d.— Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn.
