SUPREME COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH SENTENCES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Lnst Night. At the Supreme Court ,to-day, Frank Morris, for forging a witlidrawal slip for £lO on the Cliristchifrch Post Office Savings Bank, was ordered to be detained for two years' reformatory treatment. Clarence Henry Becks, formerly fi postal officer at Kaiapoi, for theft of three postal packets, was sentenced to twelve months' reformatory treatment. The probation officer's report on prisoner was good, but Mr. Justice Herdman said it was the practice to treat offence 9 against the Postal Department as very, serious, as public confidence must not' be disturbed. William Downes, for theft of a rug, received six months. Andrew Semb, alias Andrews, for issuing valuef [ess cheques, was sentenced to three years and declared an habitual criminal.
