OBITUARY.

SIR JOHN DENNBTON. By Telegraph.—Press Associations Christchurch, July 22. Sir John Dennis ton died, early this morning from pneumonia, following on pleurisy. Sir John wa* 74 year* of age. He wan born in Scotland and educated at Glasgow University, He became a barrister in 1874, and mi appointed to the bench in 1880. Wellington, July 22. Reference to the death of Sir John Denniston was made by the Chief Juttics in the Supreme Court. Sir Robert Stout said he did not desire to say anything concerning the late judge at that juncture except that he had been his personal friend for lift? years. The announcement of hit death had come as a great shock to him, and he felt the greatest sympathy for his family in their great loss. The court then adjourned till to-morrow.
