PEACE CELEBRATIONS.

COLONIAL SOLDIERS IN PEACE MARCH. By Tele£raph.—Press Assn.—Conyright. London, July 16. Australia will be represented "in the Peace March by a band and a hundred men selected from various units, also color parties from each Division, the latter being those who participated in the Paris celebration. Certain Australian generals will ride in the procession with the British generals. New Zealand will be represented by one officer and 38 men.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. SYDNEY'S PREPARATIONS. Sydney, July 17. Tim last touches are being put on the' preparations for the peace celebrations, which promise to be worthy of the occasion. Saturday's chief items will be a great parade and pageant by naval and military forces, a regatta and illuminations, including the warships. Fireworks in the streets will be barred. DISGRUNTLED RETURNED - SOLDIERS. Christchurch, Last Night. The returned soldiers have decided not to talce part in the military procession on Saturday afternoon. The chief reasons for their decisions are: That the big football match between the returned men and the Canterbury representatives will take place simultaneously with the procession; that no invitation was issued to the Returned Soldiers' Associations to take part in the procession until after arrangements hud been made, and that there was some little unpleasantness following the lags returned soldiers' parade on Anzac^Bay. MEMORIAL SPORTS AT RAHOTU. Coastal residents are taking considerable interest in the Rahotu Peace Sports, which are to be held in the Rahotu Recreation Grounds on Monday next, in aid of the fund for providing a Soldiers' Memorial in Rahotu for the district. Ever since the armistice was signed, an energetic committee has been enthusiastically working up the proposal and the support that they have received from the public augurs' well for the success of the gathering and as the object alone is sufficiently attractive, to say nothing of the splendid programme provided, there is certain to be a large attendance from up and down the coast. The programme comprises a number of chopping and sawing events, which were so popular before the war, and these have drawn large entries, including a number of previous champions of the district, who expect to reproduce their old-time form, which is well-known to the handicapper and starter, thus giving promise of close and exhilarating contests. Running and athletic events, tups-of-war, and novelty events, with children's races, etc > will fill up the day. Afternoon tea, fruit and drinks, etc., will be obtainable on the ground. A grand ball in the evenimr will complete the day's enjoyment. The committee and secretary (Mr. A. Walls) have made complete arrangements and confidently look forward to raising a considerable sum, as the district gained a welldeserved reputation for its generosity in patriotic matters right throughout the war.
