Wellington, Last Night. ■Sir James Allen states that Cabinet decided to-day .that the public of NewZealand be asked to suspend all festivities and activities throughout the Dominion on Peace Celebration Day (July 10) from 12 noon until five minutes past the hour, and to devote these few minutes to the memory of the New Zealand soldiers who so bravely sacrificed their lives for the Empire during the war. W ALTERATION IN TRAINS. Wellington, Last Night. It was officially stated to-day that the present train time-table will remain unaltered on peace celebration days, and there will be no special trains anywhere in the Dominion. THE GOVERNOR GENERAL/ MESSAGE. Wellington, Last Night. The Acting Prime Minister has re-! ceived the following message from the ■ Governor-General, dated July 10, at Suva: "It is with feelings of devout thankfulness we learn that peace has been signed, and Lady Liverpool, myself, and all who are on board the Tutanekat much regret that we shall not he able to be with you on the dates set apart for universal rejoicings. Nevertheless, although we shall be absent from New Zealand, we shall be present with you in spirit." NEW PLYMOUTH ARRANGEMENTS. At a meeting of the New Plymouth I Committee yesterday, final arrangeI ments were made in connection with Peace Celebrations on Children's Day ! (Monday). Oars are to pick up pupil? at their respective schools at 9.30, proceeding thence to the infant school in Courtenay Street, leaving there at 10 o'clock for Inglewo6d, via Fitzroy and Bell Block, and returning by. way o! Junction Road. On reaching Eliot Street a photograph will be taken of the assemblage, after which the childrca will be conveyed to their schools, except in the case of Vogeltown, Westown, Frankley and Omata children, who will b» provided with cocoa. At 1.45, the* children will re-assemble to proceed to the pictures, the Central, Convent and Vogeltown children, meeting in Upper Brougham Street and proceeding to Everybody's Theatre. while West End, Fitzroy, Frankley, AVestown, and Omata will meet in Robe Street, and proceed to the "People'i! Thcntre. The High School pupils go to the Empire. The suburban schools are endeavoring to arrange for their own motors.
Further offers of cars have been received from the following:-Messrs. J. F. Giddy, W. K. Morris, K. Breach, —, Perry. Epae. Archibald, Magon, G. Gibson, T. V. Symons, S. Percy Smith, and Dr. Walker. Mrs. Emcny and P. Flanagan' have hired cars for the trip. An impression was current in New Plymouth last evening that the children's festivities arranged for Monday had been postponed until later in the year. This is not so. They will take place as originally arrangedMr. J. Hayden, chairman of the New Plymouth Peace Celebrations Committee, desires it to be known that all soldiers and ex-soldiera will be admitted free to the various functions on Saturday or Monday, the uniform or badge being sufficient to ensure admission.
