The high prices of food and the cost of necessities are causing great anxiety in France and England. M. Clemenceau is taking action similarly to Italy for the suppression of profiteering. The British Government hits not yet moved, despite the labor protests, and newspaper warnings. The House of Commons is generally apprehensive. The abnormal prices are believed to be due to shortage of supplies.
