FITZROY RATEPAYERS.
general MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. There waa an attendance of about a dozen at the meeting of the Fitzroy Ratepayers' Association, held in the Hal) on Friday last, Mr. E. Griffiths presiding. j . The secretary (Mr. 0. Johnson) reported there were about 30 members in the association. , _ Draft rules and aims for the association 'Were adopted embodying advocacy of the necessary- public works for the development and beautifying of Fitzroy, fcnd means for protecting and promoting the interests of ratepayers generally, j The chairman made a statement as to what had been done by the association since its formation recently. Mi. L. Chivers was elected to the executive and Mr. L. A. Nolan was apappointed auditor.
Soma discussion took place 'on the matter .of footpaths, and Mr. R. Parkin, a member of the Borough Council, Stated that in the loan recently raised there was £"2000 for footpaths, and a sub-committee of the Borough Council, Which was to decide how the money should be allocated, had met that afternoon. The borough was divided into six areas and it was the intention of the committee to inspect them all and find out which footpaths required doing most urgently. The idea was tri start jfaext Tuesday afternoon by doing part of the central area. Mr. Parkin mentioned that he' favored asphalting in preference to tarring and sanding, which Was not permanent, but the former was, bf course, more expensive.
