OBITUARY.
MR. G. A. HOLDER. The Hawera Star records the death, after a long illness, of Mr. G. A. Holder, a well-known resident, which took place on Tuesday. His death will be widely deplored, for he was held in universal respect by all classes of the community. Mr. Holder came to Hawera some years ago as accountant in the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. After being in the firm's service for 2J5 years; he resigned in order to join Messrs Gillies and Haider's office, and when the firm disposed of their business to the Farmers' Co-operative Society the do- , ceased was appointed secretary and manager. Failing health, however, compelled him to later resign his positionHe then went to Cambridge for treatment. He considerably benefited by the open-air life, and about three years ago he returned to Hawera, commencing business on his own poeount, subsequently entering into partnership with Mr. Wilson. Early in the year he had a bad attack of the epidemio Influenza, which proved a considerable handicap in fighting the disease from which he was also suffering. In his younger days deceased was a keen athlete and runner of some note, and he took en active interest m the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club) He was an enthusiast in all maimerof sport, and at the time of his death was secretary of the Waimate Plains 'i«tting Club.
