PROPOSED INGLEWOOD COUNTY.
COUNTY CHAIRMAN'S ATTITUDE. The establishment of the proposed Inglewood County was briefly touched on at ,the meeting of tlie Taranaki County Council yesterday, the chairman stating that when the question was referred to ft commission he was of opinion that its decision should be final, as far as they were concerned, but after hearing the evidence on both sides he could not Agree that the finding of the commission was in accordance with the weight of the evidence, and, had it been so, he would be prepared to abide thereby, but he was how of opinion that the council should again submit its case to the Local Bills Committee, and to Parliament if necessary. He, therefore, moved: That the council submit evidence to the Local bills Comittee the constitution of the Inglewood County. This was seconded by Cr.' C., Andrews Cr. A, Morton regretted being unable to pgree to the motion; He h.ad opposed the; formation of the Inglewood County, and; was still of the katne opinion, but seeing that they, on bfehalf of the council, •agreed; to accept the Jsjiding.gf..the commission, and that the council afterwards confirmed their action, he did not feel they werii in honor Boimd to accept the finding. He was satisfied, jt; was substantially against the. weight of the evidence, and that the means' tised ift placing' the case before tlib commission were unfair, but for- all that the r.ouncil.could not act fairly ih'opjjosihg tlis Bill.
