The Boston correspondent of the New York Times states that De Valera was given an enthusiastic reception by the Lower House of the Massachusetts Legislature. He addressed a gathering on the aims of the Irish RepublicDe Valera was enthusiastically received by at least 40,000 people at Fenway Park. De Valera read an address in which he appealed to the United States to frame a new Covenant for the League of Nations in which Ireland will have a place among the free nations of the world. the Mayor of Boston welcomed De: Valera.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. LIFTING THE BLOCKADE. New York, July 2. The Washington correspondent of the New York Times says it is officially announced that the blockade against Germany will be lifted when the Peace Treaty has been ratified by the German Government. Nation-wide prohibition went into effect as a war measure on July 1. It ;ls likely that light wines and non-intoxi-cating beer will be permitted to be sold. National prohibition by Federal amendment will be effective as from January 16, 192f1t
