FOOTBALL.
TARANAKI v. WELLINGTON. TO-DAY'S BIG MATCH. Prior to the war the football attraction in Taranaki during Winter Show week was tha meeting of the Wellington and Taranaki representatives. Some exciting bouts of good football have delighted large crowds in the past. A great revival in football has taken place this season, and keen interest is being taken in the meeting to-day at Eawera of .these old , rivals after a lapse of years. The Wellington team, which arrived in Hawera by the mail train last night, is said to be a very strong one, and in good form. Whilst the Taranaki team is, to some extent, an unknown quantity, and may lack combination, it contains some tried players and many keen young players of great promise, and should be able to render a good account of itself, The weather does not look too promising at the time of writing. Wet or fine, however, there is certain to he a large gathering at Hawera when the kick-off takes place at 2.30 p.m.
As a curtain-raiser New Plymouth Boys' High School will play Hawera Juniors at 1.5 o'clock.
