DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION.
MR. A. IfatOOKB APPOINTED. Mr. A...L.:itoore ) director of the Ashtrarton Technical School, was yesterday appointed principal of the New Plymouth Technical College and Director of Technical Education for Taranaki. Mr. Moore received his early education in London, and was for some time an instructor in manual training in London, and on arrival in New Zealand in 1907 was appointed instructor to the North I Canterbury Board of Education, being ' afterwards promoted to chief instructor, Which position he held for three years. 'He was also lecturer in building construction, architectural drawing, and quantity surveying at the Chrurtchv.rch Technical College. Ho left the North Canterbury Board's employ to take up the position of director of the Ashburton Technical School. During his term there (seven years) the whole school has been completely reorganised, as well as the woodwork and cookery classes in the country districts. Mr. Moore holds the New Zealand Department's "C" certificate, and special certificates for drawing and handwork, and of the City and Guilds of London; he holds a first-class teacher's diploma in wood-work and frst-half of, teachers' first class honors in quantity surveying (was also silver medallist in grade II of that subject); secondclass honors in carpentry and joinery, and numerous other certificates in technological subjects of the City and Guilds of London, Board of Education, and Canterbury College.
