'TIMBER WORKERS' CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—PMM Association. Wellington, Last Night. The annual conference, of the* Mew Zealand Timbef Wooers' Federation opened to-day. An advisory board, was' a££ointed consisting of Messrs O'Byrne, Phelan, Titfby, and Hunter" , to review all applications for new awards". ' MOTOR CONFERENCE. Christciurch;, Last Night. A confererico of South Island motor organisations was held to-day. The Mayor jpresided and referred to the necessity for modern road construction, the regulation of speed, and the bridging of rivets' liable to> Mr F. Johnson, chairman of the By-laws Committee of the Canterbury Association, moved a remit which was carried, in regard to unlawfully using a motor vehicle, or procuring the hire of a motor vehicle, by fraud. A committee Was set up to bring the matter of street traffic before the next Municipal Conference.

Wellington, Last Night. •The eight-hours day in the police force, which has been in operation in Wellington on trial for some months, is to be given a trial in the four chief centres.
