At Inglewood on 18th Inst, a fair yarding of all classes came forward, all meeting with a keen demand. Mixed weaners made £1 10s to £2 12s, weaner steers £2 19s 6d, weaner heifers £3 Is to £3 3s, 20-inonth empty heifers £6 to £7, smaller do. £5 to £5 10s, 3-year-old steers £9 10s, fat cows £lO to £l2 10s, light stores £5 2s 6d to £6 15s, cannera £3 8s 6d, hulls £9, dairy heifers. £9 15s to £ll, smaller and backward sorts £8 7s 6d to £9, dairy cows £ll 5s to £l4 15s, lambs 15s to 16s, f.m. ewes' 15s Bd. On the 14tli Inst, at Matapii I held a dispersal sale on account of Mr. F/ T. McCarthy. Buyers attended in good numbers, bidding throughout proving very brisk. Best cows made £ls to £2B, backward sorts up to £l4, store cows £6 2s Cd to £B, heifer calves 34:. 6d, store pigs 275, cows £5 and £8 ss, boar £3 15s. On the 16th Inst, at Cardiff I conducted a sale on account of Mr. E. G. Ross. Best cows made £l4 to £lB, backward sorts up to £l2, 20-month in-calf heifers £6 10s, weaner heifers £2 7s, farm horse £22. Farm implements and sundries realised satisfactory prices. , On 17th Inst, at Rawhitlroa, In conjunction with the Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., I held a dispersal sale on Mr. J. Walsh's herd. The cows were a very even line, mostly Holsteins, fanciers in this particulars breed attending in strong numbers. A few head of pedigree Friesians made as follows Cows, 65 and 15 guineas; heifer calf 19gns., bull calf 17% gns., 3-year-old bull 20gns. Best grade Holstein' cows made £ls to £25, backward sorts £l2 to £l3 10s, Jerseys made £lO to £l4 10s, 3-year-old Holsteln heifers (choice) £l3 10s to £l6, smaller and backward sorts £9 to £l2, farm horse 3 £2l to £3O. On 18th inst., at Puniho, I conducted a dispersal sale on account of Messrs. Wells and Butler. Buyers attended in strong numbers. The cows .were a fairly even line showing plenty of condition and considering the size of the herd a satisfactory sale resulted. Best cows made £l4 to £2l, backward sorts up to £l3, heifers (calved) £lO to £l2, 2--yfcar-old Shorthorn heifers £lO 5s to £l3, smaller do. £8 15s to £9 15s, choice 2-year-old Jersey heifers) £ll 10s, yearling steers £3 4s, mixed weiners £2 ss, farm horses £l3 and £2l.
On 19th insti, at Hulrangl, I held a clearing •ale on account of Mr. W. Nlcoll. The cows proved an exceptionally fine lot, In the pink of condition and showing plenty of Jersey. Bidding vras very brl3k throughout, the herd averaging the satisfactory figure of £lB 18s. Best cows made £lB to £25 10s, late calvers up to £l4 10s to £l7, 20-month choice Jersey heifers £ll 5s to £l3, choice Jersey weaner heifers £5 12s, goats lis Gd to 17s Gd, store pigs 265, sows £5 ss, porkers £3, farm horses £lB and £l9 10s.
At Tataraimaka on 19th inst,, on account of Mr. S. Metcalf, best cows made £l3 10s to £l7, poor conditioned and backward sorts up to £ll. Also at Tataraimaka on same day on account of Mr. G. Itae, best cows £l2 to £ls 10s, others £9 10s to £ll, store cows £5 12s 6d to £8 17s 6d, heifers (calved) £9, in-calf heifers £lO, empty do. £4 10s to £6, bull £l2 10s, farm horses £l2, and all farm implements and sundries at ruling rates.
N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE, CO. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Stratford branch, report as follows: On Friday, June 0, we held our usual monthly sale In our Tarata yards. There was a full yarding of store cattle. The steer market is still quiet, but we disposed of the balance of the yarding at full values. Store cons £5 14s, cows and calves £6 to £6 ITb 6d, 2%-year steers £B, 20-month steers £3 16s to £4 17s 6d, In-calf heifers £6 lis, dairy cows £l2 15s to £l3 10s, weaner heifers 40s- 6d, Jambs 15s 9d to lGs. Our next sale in these yards will be held on Friday, July 4. On Tuesday, June 10, we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yardsr' )Ve bad a small yarding mostly of dairy stock which sold well up to ruling rates. Store cows £6 6s, empty heifers £4 to £4 10s, dairy cows £ll 15s to £ls, in-calf \elfers £5 to £l2, f.f.m. ewes 16s 4d. Our next sale In these yards will be held on June 24. On Friday, June 14, we held our usual monthly sale In our Te Wera yards, when we disposed of all of a fair yarding at slightly better prices than have been ruling. Heifers (empty) £5 2s 6d, lambs 16s, ewes In lamb 19s 6d. Our next sale In these yards will be held on July 11. Private Sates.—During the week the enquiry for younger stock has shown a slight Improvement, the demand especially for hoggets increasing beyond the supply. Smith, of Cardiff. The cows were mostly aged. Good sorts £l2 to £l7, backward and old from' £7 to 1 £lO 10s, bull £7, mixed weaners 30s 6d, milk cans 17s Gd to 22s 6d.
On. Monday, .Tune 16, we held a clearing sale on account of Major J. B. Hlne, M.P., at Kakaramea. There was a good attendance of buyers from all parts of the district. The stock was all In splendid condition. Sundries also sold well.
