Owing to the absence on leave of Mr. Blackwood, of the power-house Staff, the electric light will not be on in the early H»oriiing as it has been for .the last two or three months. We are sorry to hear that Lance-Corpl. W. 'iVek. of the military police, who used to be in. business in this town as a hairdresser, fell; down the well of a lift in Taranaki Street, Wellington, while on duty. He received injuries to his back and thigh,-and'his face was badly bruised, but he is doing fairly well in hospital.
