ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A MINER'S SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Walhl, June 10. A miner named Charles W. Holmes, married, was found dead in bed this morning. Alongside the bed was a gasring with tubing attached and the gas turned on. It is presumed that death was caused by asphyxiation, the circumstances pointing, to suicide, although there was nothing in deceased's raai\ter which suggested that he contemplated taking his life.
A SUDDEN DEATH. Napier, June 19. Charles T>] a tt Bomont, aged 62, died in Napier Hospital last night. Deceased was tinder arrest at Gisborne charged with drunkenness. He was examined by doctors and ordered to Porirua Rental Hospital. On his (arrival at Napier yesterday he was in a state of < Mlapse, and was taken to the hospital. The police know nothing of the man's history or relatives. An inquest is to be held. ACCIDENT AT TIMARTJ. Timaru, Last Night. A serious accident occurred on the main street, opposite the public gardens, at the south end of the town to-night, In a hollow badly lighted. W. Condon, stock agent for Dalgety's, was coming into town in a poorly lighted car and ran into two young returned soldiers, brothers named Bowers, who were walking on the road. One had a thigh fra*. tured and the other a leg broken above the ankle, and both were injured about the body. They were taken to the hoepital. The injuries, though serious, are not dangerous.
