WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ™ ~ June 19 - Jthe seaside euchre party held last evening was fairly well patronised, the gross proceeds amounting to £5 Is. The winners of prizes were: Ladies, Miss Brabant 1, Mrs, Arms and-Mrs. Young tied for second place, and they decided riot to play off, but to give the prize backto the Seaside Committee. Miss Brabant ftlso gave her prize to the committee, lne winners of the gents,' prizes were Messrs Frank Clare 1, D. Stockman 2. An enjoyable dance for two hours wound up the evening. To-night there is to be a meeting of returned soldiers to discuss important business. Mr. J. Jenkins, son of Mr. W. F. Jenkins, of this town, who was employed fit the power-house here before he went to Sydney, has apparently been lucky over on the ether side. He has secured an appointment as an electrician with the Government, and is in charge of fifteen men engaged in putting in motors on vessels at Cockatoo Island. Twelve soldiers are returning to Waitara about the 25th inst., as thev are on the Wimmera. due in Auckland 'on June 23. Their names are: Corporal W. H Cummings, Sergeant G. C. Kaipo, LanceCorporal J. C. McKoy, Lance-Corporal T Ormsby, Corporal M. R. Pennington, Private V. R. Pennington, Private R. Radciiffe (Uruti), Private 'D. R. Ritchie (Tikorangi), Private A. E. Syme, Private C. H. Young, Private H. Cole, and Private , J. E, Gough.
