PROPOSED CATHOLIC STATE. iieceived June 15, 5.5 p.m. Paris, June 9. A Zurich message states that Spartacist aspirations, which have always been strong in Bavaria, are showing renewed vigor. They are supported by the Catholics and Independent Socialists from entirely different motives. The former desire to unite with the Tyrol Austrian Germans and form a Catholic State of Central Europe. This plan meets with the approval of Rome. The Independent Socialists want to create a southern State opposed to the Majority Socialists of northern Germany, ultimately hoping to pave the way to apply Independent doctrines all over Germany. The Bavarian Spartaeists also hope to effect a separate peace with the Entente, which will be more advantageous than that conceded to the German Empire.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
