THE NEW RHENISH REPUBLIC. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, June 4. Dr. Dorden asked Herr Scheidemann for permission to elect a Rhenish Assembly and to permit the dispatch of * representative to the Peace Conference. Hexr Scheidemann's reply was the tni'jation of proceedings against Dr. Dorden and his Government for high treason. Dr. Doirden telegraphed to the British commandant at Cologne asking that the Peace Conference should recognise the new republic which had been established by popular vote.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
