By Telegraph.—Press Association, ~ Wellington, Last Night New regulations are being prepared for dealing with the payment of sustenance rates to the returned soldier* learning trades. The proposed wage to be paid the trainee shall be assessed by a committee of three, consisting of the employer or hie representative, a rente* sentative of the trade union ocnoemed. and a representation of the Repatriation Department. The wage during the first or trial month of a soldier's engagement as trainee is to be brought up to £3 Instead of £2 10s per week. TonutJj the praotioe has been to pay sustenance up to a certain amount, inclusive of the pension to men attending technical technical classes, but to give the amount exclusive of pension to men in wejfe shops. It has now been decided to give the sustenance exclusive of the pension | to trainees in technical schools who are working in classes thirty hours per week or more, this being considered equal to full-time employment. A more generous allowance it to be given apprenticee also. They are to be assured £3 a week eselueta, of fleniiou. Instead of £3 inclusive of pension.
