COMPULSORY SUBSCRIPTIONS. • By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Last Night. .' Discussing the present position of the last victory war loan of ten minions, the Hon. A. M. Myers, acting-Minister of Finance, stated that since his notification in November last that.the Treasury were prepared to accept voluntary subscriptions, an average of £400,000 4 month had been received, so that op to the present time nearly 2% mffllone h*d been subscribed. The Minister added that the Treasury Department are stltl prepared to accept amounts, but, of course, the compulsory clauses will be brought into operation should it be found that taxpayers are not subscribing according to the amounts specified in ithe Finance Act.
