FIRES.

MYSTERIOUS FIRE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Feilding, June 7. What looks like a clear case of incendiarism occurred last night when two bedrooms at opposite endy of Hastie's Hotel were found to be on fire simultaneously. Owing to the prompt application of fire-fighting appliances very little damage was done. On the previous night a fire was discovered in the cellar under the bar.

The premises have a bad record with regard to fires. In 1005 the wooden building was totally destroyed and a housemaid burnt to death. The premises were rebuilt in brick and a few years later a fire broke out in the upper storey, when a fireman was killed by the colalpse of the chimneys
