DISTRICT NEWS.

YORK ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent) A very pretty wedding took place in the Roman Catholic Church, Stratford, on May 28th, when Kathleen Doris Dodunski, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Dodunski, of this road, was married to Francis Wiiliam Dombroski, fourth son of Mrs Dombroski, of Ingletiood. Father Maples officiated. The bride, who was given away hy her father, wore a handsome dress of cre])e-<lc-chene trimmed •with white silk lace with tassels to match, and the usual bridal veil and wreath of orange blossom. The bridesmaids were the Misses Mary and T. Dodunski, sisters of the bride, being dressed in very pretty embroidered voile carrying bouquets to' match, while Mary Hancock, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She looked very nice In a crepe-de-cheno dress with p very pretty basket of flowers. Mr N. Dodunski acted as best man. After the wedding ceremony the party- mntored to the homestead, whe>ro hundreds of friends and relatives hud assembled to welcome them. The wedding breakfast had been laid out in a large marquee erected for the occasion and was .done full justice to, and many good speeches were made. The wedding breakfast was a great credit to Mr and Mrs Dodunski. Breakfast b?Ing over, and the house cleared, dancing commenced and was kept going until seven o'clock tho following morning. Many a dancer toed the floor the whole night to the excellent music played by local players. During the evening a dance new to "your own" called "The Bride's j Dance," when tho gents pay to dance.with the bride. This realised £75, quite a handsome night's pay for the bride. The presents were numerous and costly. The bridegroom presented the bride with a handsome- gold brooch, I 'and the bridesmaids with a gold band ring and gold brooch. The newly-married couple will reside at York Road, having taken over tho farm owned by tho late Mr E. McLaughlin. Another great event, not a wedding but next to one, Is the meeting of her husband by Mrs Balsom. Mr Balsom was expected to arrive In Wellington on Saturday from the front. Ho left New Zealand with the 16th Reinforcements, after being married only a few months.
