A general meeting of members of the Star Football Club was held last night, Mr A. PearK presiding over a large attendance of seniors an-f\ Thursday and Saturday juniors. Mr. J. Hoskin was elected a vice-captain; ciUo assistant manager and selector of the seniors. Mr. Guthrie was elected assistant manager and selector of the Saturday juniors. It was resolved to have all tean.s insured during the season. Six new members were elected. A practice match will be held on the racecourse to-day, when all members are requested to turn up.
The Tultapa Football Club will hold a practice game on the Western Park No. 2 ground tills (Tuesday) morning. June 3, at 10.30, when all members are requested to attend. I Opunake travelled to Hawera and was defeated by 15 to G. REFEREES' ASSOCIATION. The usual meeting of the North Taranaltl Referees' Association was held last night, when Mr. Whittalier, a recently returned soldier, was admitted to full membership, having passed the nncessary test. Mr. Bruce Joll was also elected ft member, subject to passing the necessary examination. The committee asks that all intending members should present themselves for examination next Monday, as it is urgently necessary that there should be an accession to the ranks of , the referees, in view of the number of matches each week. This week it has been found necessary to appoint the snma man to fixtures on Thursday and Saturday, which is not always desirable or expedient.
