FARMERS' CO-OP. ORGANISATION SOCIETY'S REPORT. On Monday last we report holding a clearing sale of furniture and household effects on account of Mr Hammond, Opunake. Prices ruled high throughout. On Monday, May 26, we held our usual fortnightly sale at Opunake, when there was a fair yarding of cattle, which sold a' the following rates: Forward cows £8 2s to £lO 9s, store cows £0 to £7 10s, loners £3 to £o, cull ewes 12s, lambs 8s 3d, store pigs £1 18s to £2 Es, dairy heifers £8 ss. On Tuesday we held a clearing sale on account of Mr R. Swans, Awatuna. Owing to boisterous weather th6re was a small attendance of buyers. Sundries sold well up to market value. Waggon horse £l2, dairy heifers (small) £7 10s. At Stratford on Tuesday, 27th, we had a good yarding of store cattle, which sold at late rates. We have to report a successful sale of dairy' heifers on account of Mr E. P. Federaon, prices ranging from £9 to £l3 10s. Sheep sold a? follows: Lambs 5s to 12s 3d, ew<-s 14s 9d. At Manaia we report a small yarding, and prices were on a par with recent sales. CANTERBURY GRAIN MARKET. Chrlstchurch, May 30, The cold southerly weather with rain on the plains and snow on the hills that has prevailed intermittently during the week has had the effect of hardening the prices of oats and oatsheaff chaff. Even at the prices now quoted for. oats for country stations It Is doubtful If any quantity could be obtained if wanted immediately. Growers are holding firmly and the weather makes them nioro reluctant to sell. Already it is reported that oats are being fed to sheep so short has available feed become. A grade Cartons are now quoted at 4s Id to 4s 2d, B grade 3s lOd to 4s, Algerians 3s lOd to4s, Danish 3s 6d to 3s Bd, and good heavy dark Duns 4s to 4s 2d at country stations. Oatsheaf chaff, which has firmed In sympathy with oats, the demand now being greater since' the break in the weather, is now quoted at 6s 6d to Gs lOd at country stations for good bright quality. There is now more movement In grass; and clover seed. Perennial ryegrass is scarce and there is none offering. It Is worth 4s Od to 4s 9d at country stations and Italian Is realising 4s to 4s 3d. Cowifrass Is firmer and 's quoted at Is to is 2d, while white clover J ,s now saleable at lOd to Is. There Is a good demand for mangels, they are selling at £2 5s per ton at country stations and some of the large growers are holding for £2.105. Linseed Is firmer and is now quoted at £lB 6s to £lB 10s per ton at country stations. The potato market Is somewhat unsettled through prospective business with Sydney having fallea through. It Is also reported that northern merchants have been trying to resell their speculative purchases The local price still keeps fairly steady, £6 5s to £G 10s at country stations being the Quotation. The onion market is easier, the market price now being £7 to £7 10s at country stations.
