Mr. P. (inlanders, Haw-era, writes to the Otago Daily Times: "The Hawcra Star has reprinted from a rocont issue of the Otago Daily rimes a statement that the Hon. G. M. Thomson has made some very strong adverse comments on water divining, and lias attributed tlw belief in "water divining* to ignorance and tho want of seientitic training. 1 am not prepared to discuss the latter part of his contentions, but I am prepared to demonstrate to liim, any scientist, or body of scientists v.hom he eares to appoint, that water divining in neither, to quoto his own words, "fallacy" nor "heresy that dies hard." I shall undertake to do this without either twig or instrument of any kind whatever, and blindfolded should he desire so. Should I fail to establish my con tention, I shall pay all expenses in connection with the demonstration. On the other hand if I prove that water divining is neither fallacy nor heresy, I shall expect my expenses in connection with the demonstration to be paid."
