A crowd of strikers attempted to rush a vessel on which the loyalists) were engaged, but were beaten off after a fight during which the police used their batons. Received May 30, 9.10 p.m. Sydney, Last Night. The committee has made final arrangements for the ballot of seamen throughout Australia on the question: Shall the ships be manned forthwith? If so manned the whole dispute will be referred to the Arbitration Court. In view of this the local ballot, which evoked a poor response, has been stopped. Melbourne coal lumipers refused to work the fieamera on which loyalists were employed. The Coal Board has decided to regulate the coal supply from Wednesday next. Only essential industries will be sup-plied.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
