NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. Wellington, May 30. The animal meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union began at midnight, the earlier part of the evening being taken up discussing the rules. Officers were elected as follows: Patron, the Governor-General; president, Mr. F. T. Evans (Christcluirch); management committee, Dr. Crawford and Messrs B. A. Morrin, C. A. Mathicson, E. 0. Hales, G. VV. Sladc, IC. Akers; appeal council, Messrs F. Coivlishaw, W. G. Garrard, G. 11. Mason; auditor, Mr. Pember; representative on the English Rugby Union, Mr. Wray Palliser; hon. treasurer, Mr. T. H. Jones.
It was decided that for the coming year the appeal committee should he elected by the management committee and located in 'Dunedin, and that the appeal council should sit in Christcliurch for the next three years. It was unanimously resolved that the Ranfurly Shield regulations be amended as follows: That regulation No. 3 be deleted, and the following substituted: (3) AH special challenge matches shall be played on the ground of the holder of the shield for the time being, but any affiliated union meeting the holder of the shield in the ordinary course of interunion matches, whether on the holder's ground or not, may give notice to the NZ.R.FJO., and to the holder, not less than fourteen days before the day appointed for the match, declaring such match to be a Banfurly Shield challenge match. To encourage school football it was decided to Tecommend the management committee to make a grant of £2OO to the Public Schools Union. SOUTHERN CHAMPIONSHIP. Opunake: McSweeney, Graham, McCuilimi, Tuwhaka, Ferguson, Village, Brophy, Duffey, Trotter, Wallii, O'Brien, Corkhill, Bayliss, O'Rorke, McReynolds, with King (2) and Lockley as emergencies.
The following will represent Star seniors v Okato in the Mynott benefit match at Pukekura Park at 2.30 p.m. to-day:—A, N. Blttcher, J. Fay, S. Skipper, Mac Skipper, E. Loveridge, E. Stanicy, H. Muna, Jacob, Skipper, Herbert, R. Spence, A. E. Richards, E. L. Egars, W. L. Hughes, P. Sheppard; emergencies: Falkner, E. McKov. The football match between Rahotu and Okato was reported by our Pungarehu correspondent recently as having been won by Rahotu by 23 to 3. Mr T. L. Power, of Okato, writes that the scores actually were-. Rahotu C, Okato 0 Like the sport he is Mr Power says the visitors "really deserved their win." In the report of the Northern Referees-' Association's annual meeting the credit balance was stated to be ;El7 10s. This should have been 17s lOd.
