AUCKLAND RESOLUTIONS. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, May 29. The Farmers' Union agreed that the Poverty Bay sub-provincial area be recognised as a provincial district of tlie union. .WELLINGTON CONFERENCE. Wellington. May 29. The Farmers' Union Conference passed an amended resolution that the attention of the Minister of Finance be called to the present unsatisfactory state of matters in connection with the State and private money-lending institutions; that where the security is good the State should provide the money at reasonable rates for farmers' needs, and should restore the ta.ble system of mortgage arid provide in every mortgage a covenant for the repayment of sums before the dale due without forfeiture of interest. The Government is to be urged to take morn effective measures to prevent the aggregation of lands. It was resolved that, in view of the excellent results from tlie adoption of preferential voting in Australia, the same system shall, without further delay, he embodied in the electoral law of New Zealand. Mr. Marshall was. 1 re-elected president. The next conference will be held at Feilding. The Farmers'' Union Conference passed a resolution, by 20 to 23, cordially approving of a round table conference to consider labor conditions, and expressing readiness to fend delegates to such a conference if invited. The conference also resolved to set up a committee to draft suggestions for legislation which would be acceptable to both farmers and labor, and that immediate steps be taken to educate public opinion in sound economic principles.
