I TERRIBLE EXCESSES, PEASANTS MURDERED Eg BOLSHEVISTS, Received May 28, 8 p.m. Loudon, May 23. Vienna messages show that Hungarian anarchy is increasing. Fighting in the provinces and massacres of peasants are reported because they refused to sell food to the Bolshevists' towns. A party of Red Guards raided a village. Peasants took refuge in the local castle. The Bolsheviks brought up artillery, whereupon the besieged surrendered. Their leaders were murdered and crucified on the church dAirs. A queue of women in Budapest, after vainly waiting at a butcher's shop, tore three Red Guards to pieces and murdered the hostages, including three exMinisters aud two ex-State Secretaries. —Aus. N.Z. Tlin government, in a manifesto, declares it is transitional. Its task will he to repair the Bolshevik ravages and restore law and order.— Tiir,e=, Service. AN APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE. London, May 10.
