FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
A CART OF CHILDREN CAUGHT. ONE\ KILLED, OTHERS BADLY. INJURED. ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., last Night. A fatal accident occurred at Bunnythorpe railway crossing this afternoon. A spring care driven by Ronald Pederson, son of a widow farmer ct Roberts' Line, was crossing the line when the New Plymouth train collided. The horse was killed instantly and the cart com* pletely wrecked. Jean, the youngest child, aged 8 years, was decapitated; Alexander, aged 14, had a fractured skull and his left leg fractured and nearlv severed) Ronald, aged 13, had Iris skull injured and thumb fractured; Phyllis, aged 14, was thrown clear- Alexander is not expected to recover.' The crossing is an ODen one and in full view. The engine-driver says he blew the whistle and the children tried to back the horse off the Hue, hut it was too late.
