AUSTRALIAN SHIPPING TROUBLE.
UNION .COMPANY'S VESSELS IDLE, (Received May 2G, 12.25 a.m. Sydney, May 25. The Union Company's Oonah, Karori, and Waihora are amongst the vessels Idle. Amongst the crews of the two last-named are a number of New Zealand seamen, who are not involved in the strike, and therefore remain with the vesselsTHE COMPULSORY CONFERENCE. THE MEN DIVIDED. Sydney, Last Night.
Matters relating to the shipping trouble are quiet, pending to-morrow's compulsory conference at Melbourne.
• It is understood there is considerable differences of opinion amongst the men regarding the advisability of pressing matters to the extreme of a general strike involving all the watersiders, and it is hoped the conference will find a way to avert this. Meantime crews continue to leave their vessels as notices expire. The whole coastal trade is coming to a standstill, tying up the collieries and threatening to seriously interfere With the dispatch of oversea ships.
