INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.

POSITION BATHER BETTER. Sydney, May 23. Despite the long spell of wet weather, the influenza position maintains an improvement, and the death-rate has shrunk to small proportions, and new cases, both in the city and country, are steadily decreasing. Reports from the southern States are of a similar character.

In Brisbane Hie disease has a strong hold, and is still spreading. There are ovei 70 cases in the hospitals, though the proportion of deaths is not high. The public services are much hampered by the heavy sick list.—Aus.-X.Z. Cable Assn.
